Răchițele

·

On my way back from Retezat paddle and hike I stopped in Răchițele to visit Roger for his birthday and visit and help Simona with some building projects. I don’t have a lot of inspiration to write now but I still want to at least list (nice one Adrian! should tap tap) some events. On my drive to Roger’s I took a volunteer of his from Cluj to the farm – Eden – interesting guy – very young, studying bio medical, very intelligent and into MMA fighting. We had very interesting conversations and one evening he even agreed to show me some MMA moves, which was fun 🙂 That guy can punch! Oh, I also had to bring a brooding hen with me, since Zsuzsi (Roger’s significant other for those who don’t know) was about to have a bunch of chicks hatch (in an incubator) and they needed a mom. For some reason theirs decided to stop wanting to be a mom, and the one the neighbors gave them had fleas. So one had to be driven for an hour from Zsuzsi’s sister to take on that role. And so she did 🙂 The chick hatching was very successful , I can’t remember the % but way higher then expected so they ended up with about 20 chicks. The Organic Art Ranch is their brand so to say and I think they’re on Facebook and Instagram if someone is interested in checking out what they do and they photography which is amazing. For me I think this was the highlight of the trip since I dedicated this much to it 🙂 For Roger’s birthday we went to the market, hung out with Roger’s friends, bought local veggies and cheese and had ice cream on the way back. The days I had with Simona were rainy so we couldn’t do much, but I built some basic saw horses and an improvised table (I am more excited about building this table then I should be) and we dug a parking spot 🙂 I never dug a parking spot before (well, I did once in a very tall snowbank in front of Kerri’s house) so that was good. I like doing new things. Octi, a good friend of Simona’s and also a friend of mine was in the area doing some work for another friend. He’s the one with the white dogs.
